I have for sale the 1991 American Artists "KELSO Eddie Arcaro Up" Limited
Edition 'Autographed' 10" Collector Plate (Gold Signature Edition) with
Certificate Of Authenticity and Original Box. The Plate is in the limited
numbered edition of 1,500 and features a neck-and-head photo of Kelso as
well as a photo of jockey Eddie Arcaro riding Kelso. The plate is
Autographed in gold felt-tip by Artist Fred Stone, and Jockey Eddie Arcaro.
The plate's back includes the following biography:
"while the champion colts are soon retired from the track to stallion duty
after their early triumphs, the gelding races on.
That was Kelso's story. He raced on, Saturday after Saturday, through the
early 1960's. He was the hero of the everyday race fan conquering all
comers-at any distance, over every kind of track, carting any kind of
weight. Kelso won 39 of 63 races. For five years in a row he was Horse of
the year-and he could have been elected mayor of New York if they let
horses run for office.
On October 15, 1983 Kelso was brought to Belmont Park in New York along
with two other great geldings, Forego and John Henry to appear before the
public. Maybe that one last ovation was what Kelso had been waiting to
hear. A few days later the great gelding passed away at the age of 26.
Kelso's jockey, the great Eddie Arcaro, winner of five Kentucky Derby's on
such super horses as Citation, ranks Kelso as the best horse he has ever
ridden."
The "KELSO Eddie Arcaro Up" Autographed Limited Edition Collector Plate
with COA and Original Box is in MINT condition.
